As already has been said, the Laz may have relation to 'azur' (blue color).
At the same time, we know that Greeks identify Laz as Chalybes (where the root is 'lyb', see the corresponding entry).
In Kartvelian language the root 'leb' is also strongly associated with blue color:
lebva, lebi, lebiani, lebuli, lebovani are connected either with a mar, or with some 'impermeable blue silt' (Rayfield).
