ARGELIA

We can argue as much as we want as to etymology of Algeria (which is traditionally vague). Just take into account the Spanish spelling of the country, which is:

ARGELIA

...and which represents a totally Kartvelian adjective ARGELI (ARG+ELI). ARG- means 'Megrelian' (mARGal), while -EL is a typical toponymic adjective suffix (Kakheli, for example).

If you feel uncomfotbale with -A-ending in ARGELIA, don't. It's very likely to be an article, typical for Basque language (DONOSTI-A).
