MASDAR

The typical suffixes of Georgian masdar -oba, -va exist in Ukrainian language in almost the same meaning. The slight difference lies in that the Ukrainian words do not bear the function of infinitive (anymore?), but only of verbal nouns. Compare:

mushaoba, ahalgazrdoba, avadoba (Georgian)
vs.
hvoroba, zhaloba, uchoba (Ukrainian)

as well as:

frinva, getakva, klva, gapurchnva (Georgian)
vs.
nazva, molva, barva, budova (Ukrainian)

The habit of using the -va suffix was so strong that it kept being used even after the inflexion of nowaday infinitive -ati/-iti showed up:

molitva, bitva, gonitva
