άργαλέος

Sure, after the previous post the most natural would be to go through all the AR-words in Greek dictionary. And already the first one draws serious attention.

It's the word άργαλέος [argaleos] in the meaning of 'difficult', 'hard', 'unpleasant', 'burdensome', 'anguished'.

The word starts with the Kartvelian negative AR-suffix. So, to solve the puzzle we should find a Kartvelian GAL-root in the meaning of 'easy', 'pleasant', 'joyful' or similar. Actually, anything positive would do.

The Kartvelian idctionary indeed has such a root. It's ღალ (ღალა, ღალი, ღალიანი). The meaning varies within 'wealth', 'milk yield', 'best-quality', 'expensive', 'rich', 'lush', 'plentiful'. More than positive and quite opposite to 'unpleasant' and 'burdensome'. The puzzle is solved. The Greek language is a derivation of the Kartvelian one.
