SAINT GEORGE

For far the etymology of 'Georgia' has been strictly connected with Saint George, while the name 'George' has been strictly connected with Greek ´land-tiller´.

But now we know that the hypothesis of ´Georgia´originating from ´gorg´ (wolf) has as much reason for being considered.

To support it, let´s draw the attention to the fact that Saint George has always been regarded as a protector of wolves who were known as his dogs:

"...Egoriy the Brave was considered protector and master of not only domestic animals but also of predators, especially wolves, that sometimes were called his 'dogs'...".
