LINTVAR & LINTVARIVKA

An incredible entry in the milestone Russian language dictionary of Vladimir Dahl mentions the word 'lintvar' as a 'lamb of a late litter'. 'Late litter' means 'autumn litter', almost winter. The root of the word is totally inapprehensible by either Russian, or Ukrainian minds, while in Svan language 'lintv' means nothing else but 'winter'.

The word is supported by the name of a Ukrainian village in Sumy region - Lintvarivka.
