In Spanish and Portuguese the name of this historic French land is spelled with 'b' - 'Saboya', making us assume it's Kartvelian Saboie - 'land of boi'. According to Helmut Birkhan, the tribe of Boii was permitted by the Aedui tribe to live on their land, which was Burgundy. While Savoie is exactly part of Burgundy.
