Compare Iveria ივერია and Iberia. Perhaps Iberia is a Roman corrupt of Iveria.
Vakhushti Bagrationi was saying that the name Iveria had two possible origins, one from the River Iori იორი. ივრის-ზეგანი, ივრის-პირები, ივერია. And the other ი-ვერიე 'overcome' connected to the legend of Hayk, and Assyrian - Urartu campaigns.
My idea is that both (they are the same word) are a combination of 'ibi' (water) and the Savn suffix -ar (place of...). The Basque word 'Ibar' actually means 'dale', which is, 'where water is'. The same 'Ibar' root repeats many times throughout Europe, always in places where water is - Ebro, Ibar, Tibr, tivertsy, Tiberia.
