BAETICA

A correction. Last time it was said that the name 'baeti' may derive from ბაი - coconut. But today's version seems to be more likely.

In Old Basque 'bai' used to mean 'river'. Hence, 'baeti' becomes 'riverland', which is a totally logical name for the land where great Betis (Guadalquivir) flows into the ocean.

But the construction remains Kartvelian toponymic.
