Samosata is the capital of the ancient Minor Asian state of Kommagena, on the border with Armenia Mayor. Note the extreme kartvelianism of te toponym:
SA-MOS-AT
We have two toponymic morphemes: SA-prefix and AT-suffix (Laz suffix). And what do we have as the root? The root MOS with very high probability represents the Moschi, a Kartvelian-speaking nation that used to live right in that location.
So, Samosata - 'land of Moschi'.
