SEBASTE

Since the ancient sources mention both Sebaste and Sabaste, we have a right to assume that Sabaste is the correct ancient name of the modern Sivas in Turkey. No need to point out that this is a perfectly Kartvelian toponym:

SA + BAST + E

...meaning 'place of basti'.

The 'basti' root exists in Spain in the names of Iberian peoples of Bastuli and Bastetani, that have already been addressed. Besides, it is present in the name of the Corsican city of Bastia.

To sum it up, Sebaste (Sabaste) gave name to various Sebastopoles and Sebastians.
