GARMATI TAVRIANI

An impeccably Kartvelian toponym, mentioned at the beginning of Primary Chronicle (Повесть временних лет).

GARMATI (ГАРЪМАТН) is Laz equivalent of Kartvelian Garmeti - 'land of gar(a)mi'. What is garami, was explained two days ago in the GARAMANTES entry. It's precipice, abyss in Megrelian.

TAVRIANI (ТАВРІАNН) is a typical Kartvelian adjective made out of the name of Tavri tribe that lived in Crimea.

And Crimean Yayla (plateau) is a highly precipicial place:
