GROOVE

English 'groove' and Kartvelian ღრუვი [gruvi] both mean 'cavity'.

Which is prior?

The English can't say anything about word's etymology, let alone explain the 'v' in it. While Kartvelians point at the word ღრყ [gru] in the same meaning, thus making 'gruvi' its derivation by means of adding the V-suffix (remember? დათი-დათვი, ვეფი-ვეფვი, კუ-კუვა, etc).

Also, note the final 'e' in 'groove'. Can you, Englishmen, explain it? No, you can't. It's a remnant of Kartvelian nominative case I-ending
