HUNS

The most interesting in hunology is the fact that their presence in Ukraine is always attested in IV century, while the map of Ptolemy clearly places them there in the II century:

The name is mentioned in both Greek and Latin.

And where should we look for the meaning of the tribe's name? Definitely in the wonderful Georgian Language Dictionary compiled by Rayfield and his friends, where the word 'huni' (ხუნი) is present in the meaning of 'fast (colour)', 'likely to fade'. While 'fast', in its turn, has meaning of 'changeable', 'inconstant', 'unreliable'. A perfect description of the unfriendly nation known not only as 'Chuni'/'Huni', but also as 'Scythians', 'Peucini'/'Pechenegi'/'Patsinaki', 'Avars'/'Obri', 'Alans'/'Roxalans', 'Sarmati'/'Savromati'.

  1. At times I feel myself at lost at other peoples illiteracy and at the same time at their insolence to comment on things they haven't the slightest idea about! "Huns" or "Hunogurs"were called also the "Royal Scythian"! Their alternative tribal name was "Bogari"(people of Bog, i.e. God). Today's name of the state of Hungary comes from its ancient name of Hunoguria - the land of Hunogurs, of Huns, the kingdom of Attila, the Scourge of God for the late Roman Empire (the western one). And why you (the Rhinoceros) did a reference to the Georgian Language? It has nothing to do with the Slav languages? And ancient Scythians are today's Slav peoples. Do not let the rhinoceros in you to take the upper hand!

    1. Royal Scythians are Skoloti by Herodotus. What source says they were Huns?
Czechia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgar, Serbia, Croatia, Ukraine - they all are Georgian words. Hundreds of Ukrainian words are of Georgian origin. The Bulgarian word 'магаре', for example, is Georgian too. The word 'Slav' itself is Georgian. The word 'Thracian' is as well.
I don't know what 'hunogurs' you are talking about. On the map of Ptolemy they are mentioned as just 'huni'. That's exactly what I am interpreting from Kartvelian point of view.
I never said Scythians could not be modern Slavs.
One more comment in this tone, I'll ban you.
