CALABRIA

Do you kno that the adjective Calabrese, that comes from the toponym of Calabria, has an alternative - Calebrese:

...that has been preserved as a surname? The idea is in that if there is Calebrese, then there should be Calebria as well (possibly, ancienter and correcter name of Calabria). While Calebria, in its turn, can (or even should) nbe interpreted as a derivation from 'Calebar' (by he way, there is such a toponym in Africa). And, finally, Calebar is a purely Kartvelian-Svan construction 'Calebi + ar' = 'where women are'.

'Calabria' does not have any other explication.
